It seems fitting that my first "real" post should cover where Howell Mountain is located. Not just its location but its extent as well. By definition, most of the AVA is marked by the 1,400 ft. elevation in Angwin, CA. The 1,400 ft. elevation is not just a cool-sounding coincidence - it's the average altitude of the inversion layer that keeps coastal fog below the AVA (usually).
